Can't get over how good that script is. It's off the hook, off the scale, unbelievable stuff. I am gagging to see the Alf and Flynn - you know it's something special when Alf is reduced to tears. *10 standing ovations* *Compliments to the chef* *Encore* *Encore*. Incredible stuff.

i wonder would a Home & Away movie work? Could do something along the lines of Alf's 60th birthday episode..... There was one offshoot movie done already about Scott and Danii I think. You can buy it on amazon.com.au

I can't find the original post but I remember we were challenged to come up with some Home and Away quotes to rival the Simpsons selection.
First a disclaimer: Home and Away, though hilarious when it wants to be, is not a comedy. Therefore you cannot expect the same volume of jokes and one-liners in the script. Having said that the scriptwriters have found room for some quips, reflecting the laid-back nature of life in the Bay I guess.
Here are some of the funniest:
COLLEEN: “I couldn’t bear to spend my last days surrounded by boiled cabbage and incompetence pads!"
FLYNN: “Maybe you found that old wreck.” ALF: “No, no, Colleen was nowhere near the area!”
COLLEEN: “It just leaves me lost for words.” VINNIE: “Well that would be a first!”
COLLEEN: “My water’s coming out all brown.” GYPSY: “Maybe you should see a doctor!”
MARILYN: "Its just all water under a bridge's back!"
MARILYN: "Oh, wouldn't it be wonderful, Mrs. Stewart, if you went into a bookshop and saw Donald's face staring at you from the back of a book. Of course, if it was on the back you'd have to pick it up and turn it round first but you know what I mean!"
SHANNON (about an English woman on the phone): "She only wanted to know what was happening on Neighbours!"
ALF: "One chocolate shake and a Simpson." CURTIS: "A what?" ALF: "An OJ!"
MARILYN: "Oh, I love it. I love being by the sea, not like the city with all that pollution and Carbon Peroxide, and the smell of the air its so clean, its so good for you, its invigourscating don't you reckon? And the sea, ah the smell of the sea, its all that ozone, its in the seaweed or something!"

Can you be clearer please? Do you agree or disagree with the decision to sticky the post?

Wouldn't worry YOY- most of H&A's audience are on summer hols so they can watch the lunchtime episode or either unemployed/unemployable and therefore can watch the repeat also- see above listing of members.

Wait a minute WOW you said that this is meant to be a sports dedicated forum and of the last 6 threads you started half of them have been unrelated to sports- Charles Haughey, Corporate Speak and Rhyming Slang.

Don't see the need to be consistently moaning about something others are interested in. I dont have an interest in the subject of the thread (as I hope I have made clear), just in the fact that it has been wrongly stickied and kept at the top of a 'self-described' sports website/forum, (see my earlier posts). I just have forum interests at heart (which you should be glad of)

The smell of hypocrisy is in the air! My point is that the first stickied post on the 'sports' website will be home and away, not a sports one. Not very appealing to perspective members, who might cruise in thinking its a sports website, methinks

I'd like to think we all have the forum's interests at heart. One of the moderators of this Board decided that the return of Home and Away to our screens at half six this evening was worthy of a sticky. Frankly, I'm inclined to agree.
The concerns YOY expressed about the different fora were also stickied at top, though the two moderators who commented didn't really agree with the thrust of the argument.
This will never be a dedicated sports forum: it is open to all and sundry with discussions on all and sundry. The only rules that have been stressed so far are:
- refrain from using real names - don't post anything that would likely cause difficulties for people viewing in work

Not very appealing to perspective members, who might cruise in thinking its a sports website, methinks Sports are the most common topic for discussion on the board so they have less need to be stickied. This thread concerns exciting developments about Home and Away. Regrettably there are no highlights/omnibus packages on RTE for Home and Away (unlike those provided for sports fans) so this thread is a vital medium for communicating the return of the programme to a watchable slot and refreshing ourselves with what has recently happened. Also a principal character, and a damn good guy I might add, has just passed away on the show. I'd appeal for some respect at this time.

I put my arguments forward about why I think it shouldnt be. Nothing wrong with any of that. Anyway it appears that there are 3 (maybe 4) fans of 'away in a hole', which corresponds to 11% of forum members. Hardly worthy of a sticky. If it was a popular thread it would be constantly near the top, like '1966' in its heyday. As opposed to the current 'fake' popularity

Home and Away received 1/3 of all votes in the original 'which is better' thread. Projecting that out that's 12 members. I therefore think it's reasonable to sticky the post. It good to note the concern of members though - show thefreekick is becoming the staple diet for some at least.

It has to be said, there a false sense of popularity about H&A, it is only a cabal of persistent offenders that make it so.(controversial)
I agree that this forum should be open to all & sundry interests and opinions, but I would hardly say H&A takes precedence over other issues in hand- yet it is the opening forum?
This smacks of self-mastirbatory gratification and nothing else- about H&A of all things...
