My trebble for tomorrow is: Australia Czech Republic Italy I know I'm going for the favourites again but am a little less confident with this one as I could see a draw in either of the first two games but I don't like backing draws so am sticking with this selection. You get 6 to 1 for that trebble so fingers crossed. Another tenner on that one. Looks like my strategy of backing the favourites is paying off so far. I think I deserve a few exalts from those who followed my lead, although by the looks of the replys everyone was favouring Japan and I can't beleive the support the USA are receiving in this thread. I saw the highlights of the Aus Jap game and while I first thought I was lucky with my bet when I saw the time Aus scored their goals they looked the far better team and Japans goal was lucky. On that performance I'd say they are in with a chance of getting out of the group. We'll see how Croatia perform against Brazil tomorrow. Two tebbles in two days backing the favourites has netted me a profit of €90 on two €10 bets. While if I had been using this strategy from day one I would only have a €70 profit due to the fortunes of Poland and Sweden on day one and day two. Those two days of wins will ensure that there can be a few upsets over the next week and I'll still probably break-even at worst. Tomorrows trebble of: South Korea France Brazil is a less attractive 7 to 2 but will be throwing a tenner on it all the same. I'm half tempted to do another trebble with Switzerland instead of France as that game could be my downfall here. This trebble is far more attractive at 14 to 1 so it is definitely worth a punt imo. A draw is a possibility for this game too but as per my previous reply I don't like betting for the draws. DT

I called the Australia - Japan game wrong anyway. I thought the physicality of the Australians would be nullified by strict refereeing and the skill of the Japanese would see them through.
I shared your shock at the support USA had generated on this thread and elsewhere. It's like people bought into all the FIFA rankings nonsense - this may be an ageing Czech Republic side but they were always likely to be a class above the yanks.
I don't think I'll back anything today. I fancy Korea, France and Brazil but it doesn't really pay enough for me. Can't see Switzerland scoring against France to upset that one because they're fairly shit going forward but I'm not 100% confident in either France or Korea.

Disappointed in the lack of interest the US had yesterday. Had high hopes for them and not because of their ranking. The Fifa ranking is a joke. If your playing the likes of El Salvador, Canada and Panama your bound to be high up the list. I was going on the their performance in the last world cup. They were fantastic that year and should have beaten Germany. It has been mainly the same squad of players since then. Poorest performance so far IMO. Staying off the betting today due to my inept at predicting any correct bet thus far in the WC2006.

Today is a tough one, judging by the African teams so far i wouldn't completetly write off Togo's chances of getting a draw at least. Can't see the Swiss beating France although they have a fairly solid defence and did well against them in the qualifiers. I reckon a lot depends on whether France's big players (namely Henry) are bothered turning up; if they don't then i can see a 0-0 stalemate, can't be arsed betting on a draw though as i've been fcuked over by them twice already. At least if Brazil win i'll get back 75 bills, then a couple more losing trebles and i'll be even by the end of the week!

Looks like my strategy of backing the favourites is paying off so far. I think I deserve a few exalts from those who followed my lead DT Smited for looking for exalts ;D On todays games I'm starting with South Korea to beat Togo, got them on Betfair at 2.1. Basing my bet on Togo's last few games: Liechtenstein - Togo 0:1 S. Arabia - Togo 1:0 Angola - Togo 3:2 Cameroon - Togo 2:0 Togo - Congo 0:2 Not impressive at all, I also think the commotion over the coach quitting and coming back won't have done them any favours, you'd have to wonder if their training was up to scratch while he was away. South Korea haven't had great results coming into the WC either, lost 3-1 to Ghana in their last game but I still fancy them to take it. First bet of the day S. Korea to beat Togo.

I see S. Korea won that one 2-1. Don't think Togo were in with much of a shout but will have to catch the highlights to see how they kept it close. Am still on for a treble if either France or Switzerland win, so am basically screwed if that one ends in a draw! Presuming Brazil do the business tonight.
Looking ahead to tomorrow the
Spain Tunisia Germany
treble is at 4 to 1. Definitely see an upset to this. Could Poland bounce back and beat the Germans? There is also a possibility of a draw in all three games.
Smite for Briantinnion for suggesting Trinidad and Tabago getting no point in WC2006 and roping a few forum members into placing money on it!

For those of you who check this forum past half five - horse running at beverley at ten past eight called Everymanforhimself. 8/1 at the moment so each-way and take the price if you can. Same source as winner yesterday but obviously take this advice at your own risk. Same source - he had won 6 in a row for me then lost 3 in a row. 3 from his last 3 though. Anyway 2 for tonight: 7-15. Princess Cocoa 7.45. Wester Lodge Each way and take a price.

Very disapointed with both France and Brazils performace this evening. Might consider backing the aussies to cause an upset against brazil.

Did Timofte and Briantinnion back both each way? Should be a decent gain if ye did.
Thepiedpiper backed them both to win I think which was disappointing for the second one but I guess he cleaned up on the first horse.

Missed out on those tips and could have done with a little gain. Didn't bet yesterday but would have lost given the French draw. Only money I have made was the Italians beating by Ghana by exactly 2 goals at 7/2. I was with Pagey on the US. I possibly overrated the likes of Landon Donovan, Beasley and a few others but I didn't expect the Czechs to be that strong. Good news for Ireland that 4 or 5 of them are due to retire after the WC. Today I'll probably go for Spain, Tunisia and Germany. As DT said 4/1 is decent value. I wonder will Spain implode again - the talk is that Raul will be dropped even though he's captain. Off work today so I'll get the second half after I watch the Wexford-Offaly game in full on Setanta at 1.10pm.

Went for Puyol to get the first yellow card at 10/1. I can already see him hacking down Shevchenko in the 7th minute.
Going for some form of treble aswell, sticking with the favourites looks like a decent bet although i have a feeling a draw could have the bookies riding me up the ass again.

Half time first time result (has happened twice already meaning it only has to happen twice more to break even) 2. Villa scored twice today so has a good chance of being top scorer. 3. Spain look like a good bet judging by today Can hardly complain though. I should have known I had a superior knowledge of the game

1. You did the analysis on that one yourself. It has only worked for one of the last 4 tournaments. 2. Fair enough - didn't think he was guaranteed a game before the start so that's why I wouldn't have backed him. Still think Klose will score more. 3. They'll collapse don't you worry.

No harm in doing the same on those three this evening I suppose. Tunisia 1-0 up at half time. Doesn't look like a great match. Hope Germany V Poland is an improvement on the last couple of days games. Looking forward to the highlights of the Spain game though.

No luck with those bets tonight but not to worry only a small loss. Saudi Arabia draw messed up my treble for the day but it never looked likely with tunisia equalising in injury time and then what a finish to the Germany game. Didn't see the first half but the second and the end in particular was the most exciting of the tournament so far for me. How many times did Germany hit the bar!! Brilliant finish.
Am only going for a double tomorrow as I can't bring myself to bet for England and they don't add anything to the bet anyway with there odds so low. Same strategy:
Ecuador Sweden
Only 3 to 1 so nothing too exciting. Some good games coming up on Friday, Saturday and Sunday so that should keep us entertained.

Disappointed with those 3 but they can't all win. Going to stop looking at the short price winners though because there's little enough fun in them so I'll just post each-way tips when I get them.
