Savage game alright. Darren Fay was some full back. A class game on after it as well.

1997 that was. Leinster Semi Final Replay. Definitely the best game of Gaelic Footbal, I ever attended. Meath - cunts but what a team.

Carney sounded like he was going to have a heart attack. Cork v Derry 1993 now, great first half in this match. Cork got two magnificent goals that day.

Carney sounded like he was going to have a heart attack. Cork v Derry 1993 now, great first half in this match. Cork got two magnificent goals that day. I remember Henry Downey saying that before the game in the dressing romm he kept drilling it into the rest of the backs that they weren't to give away an early goal no matter what. Then Joe Kavanagh who he's marking gets one after five minutes. Tony Davis gets possibly the harshest sending off I can remember in this game.

"He probably should have shot himself" O'Rourke was much harsher in those days.

Cahalane was the man who should have gone a couple of minutes before Davis' sending off. Manny Pacquiao style left hook on Enda Gormley.

He bottled the sending off and he knew it, and then he tried to make up for it with the next heavy tackle that went in. It was Cork though so fuck them.

Davis was a bigger loss to Cork than Cahalane would have been, very good attacking half back.
I was on the open section down the front of the lower Cusack at this (near where the crush was at the Canal was) and got absolutely soaked. If was there's one thing worse than standing in a downpour it's sitting in a downpour. The early part of the second half was particularly nasty. Anyway they started knocking it down the next day. But I never got my certificate to say I was on it the last day it was used.

Fitness was clearly the difference in the last 20/25 minutes of this, Derry were miles fitter and completely wore Cork down from what I remember.
