Who thinks it's a plot by Blair to distract from mounting concerns about the war in Iraq and failure to act in Lebanon?
I do anyway.

Found myself thinking along the same lines re Blair being behind it. But on no other basis than that I'd distrust his motives behind most things.
And if it is really the case that terrorists could normally smuggle on bombs in their hand-luggage without anyone noticing, it shows major flaws in airline security.

“Naturally the common people don't want war; neither in Russia, nor in England, nor in America, nor in Germany. That is understood. But after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.”
Nothing's changed.

Its hard not to be cynical, especially with the current slaughter in the Lebanon.
Relatively no aid getting through, as roads, bridges have been destroyed with weaponry supplied by the Yanks.
Did the Israeli team get much abuse last night from the Scousers? Any lebanese flags etc etc

Did the Israeli team get much abuse last night from the Scousers? Any lebanese flags etc etc i doubt if the scousers would have the intelligence to understand what's going on outside their council houses

Its a hard one to call. Its been done before by both Americans and British. Check the papers out in a month or two and if you see a paragraph thrown in saying ' Mahomd Hussien etc have been released without charge' then there is your answer. However if it is true well done to the Pakistani intelligence for tipping off the British.
