Any thoughts on him taking the reins at Sunderland? Was fond of him at Manchester City but massively went down in my estimation during Saipan as he sneakily tried to be on everyone's side while stabbing all of them in the back. There's a part of me that would find it hilarious if he was an abject failure there to be honest. Maybe that's just me though.

I think it's absolutely ludicrous. It goes against every natural principle of both sport and business that he shouldn't be doing both jobs. He's so smug and self-congratulatory that you can't help but hope the guy fails miserably. I'd be freaked if Dermot Desmond took the reins at Celtic.

Yes, it's very strange alright. I'd almost equate it to somebody in a business organisation having responsibilty for both signing the cheques and preparing the bank recs. Not the done thing.

Have to agree boys. My attitude is that it's incredibly naive of him to think that he can do both jobs justice (not to mention going to GAA games in Thurles, Sky analysis, being a publican, charity work, yawn...). While chairmen of football clubs usually get a hard time from the fans, apparently most of them work very hard and the job is particularly demanding. Now in Quinn's case, on top of all this usual pressure he as chaiman has the added hassle of the fact that the club has just been bought; so financially, managerially, and staff wise - the place is in huge transition. Why would he want to be manager as well? Just a stupid call I think...

Not a great start for Saint Niall of Sunderland, 3 losses out of 3. Didn't see any footage but I heard he cut a forlorn figure in a post match interview yesterday. Has probably realised the size of the task in hand. Were we harsh on him previously? He's apparently a friendly guy and was always helpful to the young Irish guys at any club he's been at. Fook it, I'll still laugh of he has to sack himself.

for some reason he's rubbed me up the wrong way but i'm not sure if i'd like to see him fail over there, loyalty toward the irish and all..

Why would he want to be manager as well? Just a stupid call I think... Apparently he had to appoint himself as manager, as some players were unwilling to sign new contracts until a new manager was in place, and since they were having trouble finding a manager, Saint Niall had to step in. it'll be harder to get a manager now, 0 points after 3 matches.
