Just moved out with some mates and one of the lads brought his PS2 with him. Now personally i haven't played a computer game properly in years, back in the sega megadrive days. But i'm addicted to pro-ev at the moment. am sure there are others who suffer from the same affliction. usually i'd have no interest but i was up til 2 last few nights playing, not wanting to go to bed a having lost. cracking stuff. i've played alot with barca and for me they're the best team to play with. anybody else have preferenes or hints which may be useful ?

We have Pro-Evolution Soccer 4 on both the PS2 and Xbox in our house at the moment. Have played Pro-Evolution Soccer 5 and I don't really like it, the ball control is a bit slow or something and the games aren't as open, recently played three consecutive 0-0 draws before a victor emerged. Regading Pro Ev 4 have to admit I prefer the Xbox version, seems faster and the ball control is a bit tighter. Despite hating ManUre and everything they stand for, whenever my back is against the wall and I need a victory before bedtime I always play as the Scum. Alan Smith is probably the best player on it. Wouldn't be gone on Barca-find them a bit frail at the back, tend to play as Villareal when we are playing La Liga.

I play this an awful lot. Far, far too much. I'd say I've played it every day for the last 2 years with maybe 20 exceptions overall when I've been out of the country. I play it on the PC which is a bit different because you can update it for all the real players, stadia etc. Was playing a US 94 patch there on it for ages which was great fun. Currently playing with St Etienne in a Master League and hoping for promotion to the main division. Usually play with Livorno, St Etienne, Dortmnund or Sociedad - I find it too easy on Barca at this stage but I've been playing it for years. Not that I'll win every game, but I'll know I should which isn't as much fun. Having said that make me play it on the xbox or PS2 and I'll be beaten every time. Don't play with full backs - go for a 3-4-3. Double tap all your crosses into the box to fire them into the first man who is most likely to win a header. Finally, try and swap Larsson for Fowler if you can. The Scouse lad would have a field day with Barca.

it's pro-ev 5 we've got, nothing to compare it with so enjoying it all the same. will take account of the formation advice there tonight. am learning quickly but my problem is that i panic in front of goal and usually sky it over however i'm getting better as the nights go on. played out a cracking 3-3 draw last night where both teams were reduced to 9 men, haven't had entertainment like it in ages

Funny there’s a PS or PS2 (don’t know which) in the house and I never use it. Have no real interest in playing the actual game playing games like Pro-Evo or FIFA and the likes. My only interest is in the management games. I was addicted to Championship Manager from a few seasons back and spent a large chunk of study leave 2 summers ago playing it. I literally stayed up all night playing it on occasion when I was on a Champions League run or whatever. Could win everything with Celtic including the Champions League but couldn’t win the EPL with Manchester City. Then decided to test myself against Roddy Collins and took Carlisle from the bottom division up to the Premier League where I wasn’t able to get them into Europe though. That reminds me. Wasn’t there a split within the company that made these management games with the result that there’s now 2 or even more manager games on the market. 1 is meant to be far and away better than the others. Does anyone know which one and if it’s available for the upcoming season yet?

Got Pro Evo 5. Absolutely addicted. Started off with Celtic in the Master League and about 8 seasons in. Needless to say my team does not look anything like the current Celtic team. I haven't won the league but won the cup and european cup a few times. My biggest problem is being able to score goals, I will hit the post, crossbar, numerous shots on target but just can't finish. Most of my games are 0-0, 1-0s and I hardly finish any game with 10men never mind 11! Like to play 3-4-3 formation. I did go through a sore loser phase of turning off the PS2 and starting again everytime I lost an important match. Current Team
Buffon, Andrade, Kennedy, Puyol, M.Petrov, Gerrard, Rooney, McGeady, Maloney, Eto'o, Torres

Does anyone know which one and if it’s available for the upcoming season yet? Sports Interactive are the orignal creators of the Championship Manager series, they joined forces with Eidos (Eidos being a far larger gaming house) somewhere around 2001 I think. Sometime around last year they parted company. The terms of the divorce were that Eidos would keep the Championship Manager brand and Sports Interactive would keep the game code. Both went on to produce management games, Eidos created Championship Manager 05/06 and Sports Interactive created Football manager 2005. Championship Manager 05/06 is a totally new game and from what I've heard is totally crap. The original Championship Manager series lives on in Football Manager and as far I know Football Manager 2006 is on the market. I think the game peaked around the Championship Manager 2001/02 game and has gone downhill ever since, it is just trying to be too realistic now and the AI will crack your winning tactics far too quickly. The game has essentially come down to beating the programming rather than pure entertainment. Bought Football Manager 2005 and I stopped playing it a few weeks later. If I could find my 2001/02 cd I'd love to start playing again.

Agree with all of the above BT. Football Manager is obviously the sequel to the older games but I find it frustrating. The game simply isn't as much fun anymore. I never warmed to the new interface with the sidebar either - I prefer old school boxes to click on. That said I hear CM is appalling and I can imagine it would be.
Bandage's best solution is probably an older version with a modern update (if Sam lets you use his broadband).

I reckon I'd gag for that game. Would probably get it before waiting for your opinion it has me that excited. You buying it on-line? If so, where? Is it available on the link you posted?

You seeing the link here bandage? If he's sorted it out I might be of assistance. If not then go buy it or I'll buy you a copy and give it to you in town somehow.

Just played about 3 minutes of that now bandage. Seems decent enough but I haven't a clue how to organise a field or where to bowl because I don't really know enough about cricket. I can get a copy to you if you're interested - save your hard earned cash for a nice bracelet for that girl you met in Angels last week.

On a completely unrelated topic did sam sort out how to download torrents yet? yep sorted it out eventually one question though, after i've downloaded them and saved the music in itunes can i delete the files from bitlord or does it matter?

What format were the files in that you downloaded? You can delete the .torrent file. If you downloaded a zipped folder of music then you can delete the zip file(s) but keep the actual MP3 or WMA files or whatever format the music is in.
You can remove them from bitlord anyway though it is frowned upon to remove them before your share ratio is 1.
I'm not sure if bandage was taking the hint yesterday or not but International Cricket Captain is available on torrentspy.

think they're MP3 files, presume a share ratio of 1 means uploading as much as you've downloaded?
if bandage wants cricket manager he can fook off and buy his own laptop cos otherwise i'll never get a minute on mine ;D
saw football manager on there aswell but not sure which one it was

tried double clicking on the crosses like Rock said and got two goals from it straight away. The lads in the house were amazed at move, and couldn't figure out how i was doing it. in the interest of fair play i let them in on it, and we were been heading in goals all night. what's the policy on that? i feel i was right for the sake of the competition amongst the three of us to disclose the new hint/feature that i learned on this site, so that we'd all be on the same playing field (pun!). was i naive in divulging such information. is there such a things as pro-ev etiquette??

I'd go along with the disclosure of all relevant information cully. I often play thepiedpiper on EA Sports Rugby and regularly hammer him. Having built up a rivalry over a few years we sometimes keep game secrets from eachother but usually there is a trade of one for one. e.g. he is killing me in scrums at the moment but he has forgotten how to run set moves in the back line. We'll probably negotiate a settlement of information shortly.
It makes for more honest play when everyone's on the same knowledge level but next time I'd ask around to see if anyone else has any tips before blurting out.

we're only just getting the hang of scoring from free kicks, one of the lads figured it out and shared with the group. it's a gentleman's game.

You should give EA Sports Rugby 2006 a go if the lads are into it too. Cracking game IMO. I've read mixed reviews and opinions but it's a great two-player game.
Bandage: that International Cricket Captain game is truly awful.
