Haven't seen much of it so far and know little about the form but was mighty impressed with how Matthew Stevens was playing yesterday against Joe Swail. I'll put my imaginary money on him.
Other than Stevens might it be time for a new kid on the block to shine? Maguire, Carter, Ding Junhui maybe?

Was watching Stevens late last night mainly to avoid ending the weekend. I read somewhere that he's only won one match in tournament play this season. An amazing statistic - yet he always comes good in the long matches at the Crucible. He's threatenened to win it on more than one occasion and is due to play Doherty in the next round. I'd worry for Doherty in that one although he's playing well of late too.
I agree we might see a new name on the trophy again. I'll plump for Maguire, who despite having had a poor season, showed he was the real deal last season and sailed through the first round the other day apparently.
Last night was the first bit of it I've watched this year but I always get strangely addicted as the tournament progresses.

its hard to look past O'Sullivan at least for a semi-final. He has way more talent than the rest of them but most likely to go off the boil (like last year where he was scraping at his head with his fingernails)

I was shocked to learn that Ding Junhui was knocked out in the qualifiers by one Barry Hawkins, last seen getting hockeyed by Ken Doherty
As for a winner, I would go for Mark J Williams. I saw a few frames against Hamilton and he looked really good. He won 10-1 eventually I think
He could meet O'Sullivan in the semis.... what a match that would be...

Hendry's currently making at comeback against Bond. He was 3-7 down but now it's 6-7. I think Hendry was 20/1 on before the game and Bond was 007/1. Ahoy!
I did the draw predictor thing on the BBC website and ended up with a Maguire-O'Sullivan final.

I am after doing the same and I got Williams v Stevens. I dont buy too much into that. As Gilsey says 'take each game on its merits'. Hendry would have Dott if he wins and he's a stubborn little fcuker. The top half is rubbish. I had David Gray making it to the semis

Cracking end to the Bond-Hendry match yesterday evening. Disappointed to see the latter knocked out.

Doherty wins five frames in a row to beat Stevens. The Beeb describe it as an outstanding performance.
