I read yesterday that Quentin Fortune is looking for a move to Celtic this summer, and a former managerial legend, M'ON is heading to Middlesborough..
Think its a poor choice by M'ON and Quentin is quite fortunate.

Wouldn't mind him as a left back as Wilson could move across to his natural side with Telfer getting the shove. Don't think he's a bad player but not good enough for the Celtic midfield and would be worried that he's only played 120 times for ManU in 7 years there - that's a sicknote average - also think he's had his knees reconstructed in the US so a strict medical would be needed!
This story could be a smokescreen either to put the wind up Sparta Prague. Celtic were trying to sign their left back, Kadlec, a few weeks back - a fee of €2.5m was agreed then they asked £2.5m instead. If they see Celtic looking at other targets they might stop fook acting around and accept the initial bid.

With a subject line like that you could write for The Sun.
Anyway. Fortune needs some anger management as well as a medical. I'd love to know what his yellowcard/minutes played ratio is

Celtic have accepted a £500k bid for Hartson from West Brom. Thought they could have held out for a bit higher but it's time for him to go plus he's one of the highest earners there so it'll free up some more cash for transfers/wages if it goes through. The big man is 'shocked and gutted' at the news but hopefully it'll mean Celtic will buy a more mobile striker for the Champions League assault - need one more to complement Magic, Beat and Miller.

Definitely need another and he needs to be class. Presume that now becomes a big priority because Beat won't be fit for much of the season and Maloney or Riordan won't play as out and out strikers. Dublin and Miller would be a disastrous partnership for the Champions League. Need someone of real quality to play with Magic and not many spring to mind.

Statement on Hartson from the official Celtic site:
JOHN Hartson’s agent today confirmed that he had been given permission by Celtic to speak to other clubs on behalf of the player several months ago.
Jonathan Barnett said: “There has been a lot of media coverage and speculation with regards to John’s situation at Celtic, but at the moment, John is not certain to leave the club.
“I was given permission several months ago by Celtic to speak to other clubs in relation to John. This has been done and certain clubs have expressed an interest to Celtic.
“To suggest that Celtic have acted improperly is totally inaccurate. I have always had excellent dealings with Celtic and in this case, as always, the club has acted professionally."
Celtic Chief Executive Peter Lawwell commented: “We can confirm that a number of months ago, for various reasons, Jonathan Barnett was given permission to speak to other football clubs on John’s behalf.
“This is something which Jonathan did and there has been a degree of interest.
“Over a number of years, John Hartson has been a great servant to Celtic and has made a fantastic contribution to the club.
“The club will not make any further comment at this time but as always, in relation to the movement of any players in or out of the club, as soon as something is definitive, then we will inform our supporters.
“Our supporters can rest assured that we are working hard to strengthen the squad for next season to face the domestic and Champions League challenges which lie ahead.”

Lawwell has continued to impress me of late. This might appease the supporters accusing Strachan/Celtic of stabbing Hartson in the back. Think the club will remain on a stable footing with him in charge and I look forward to a couple of quality signings in the next few weeks.

Celtic have announced an away friendly against Chelsea on 9th August. Their supporters will try to kill the Celtic support. A veritable Battle of Britain which once and for all will decide whether the EPL or SPL is stronger (I am joking here).

Fortune rejects Celtic contract
A knee injury hindered Fortune's seven-year United career Former Manchester United midfielder Quinton Fortune appears poised to join Bolton or Manchester City after rejecting a contract from Celtic. The 29-year-old and agent, Francis Martin, met Celtic's chief executive.
And Martin said: "I spoke to Peter Lawwell and he said, because of Quinton's injury history, Celtic could only offer him a one-year deal.
"Celtic had some concerns about his scans, but it was more to do with his injury record."
South Africa international Fortune had been invited to visit Celtic Park by former United team-mate Roy Keane, who on Monday announced he was being forced to retire through injury.
And, while Fortune had been impressed by the Scottish champions, his agent stressed: "Quinton did not want to uproot his family and bring them to Scotland just for one year. We understand Celtic have to be sure about a player
Agent Francis Martin
"He is the type of person who would move lock, stock and barrel to a new club, not go somewhere and stay in rented accommodation.
"So he wants to stay in the north-west and will probably sign for Manchester City or Bolton.
"Peter said Celtic will see how he goes in the next season.
"All the clubs have offered much the same and if other interested parties had offered Quinton three or four years then Celtic's 12-month offer would have been a concern for us.
"But we understand Celtic have to be sure about a player and it is just one of those things.
"I would like to thank Celtic for the way they conducted themselves. They could not have been more accommodating."
Fortune can also play at left-back, which was a problem position for Celtic manager Gordon Strachan during his championship-winning first season in Glasgow.
Celtic have also been linked with left-backs Michal Kadlec, of Sparta Prague, Everton's Gary Naysmith and Steve Hammell, who has rejected a new contract with Motherwell.
