Reports originating from Merseyside this morning claim that Liverpool are still keen on signing Tottenham's Jermain Defoe despite the frosty relationship between both clubs following the row over the player's availability and previous interest from Anfield.
Although Defoe appears to be an option for Rafa, he is not first choice with the boss desperately hoping to recruit Fernando Torres, a deal that chief executive Rick Parry will be hoping to pull off over the summer finances permitting.
Meanwhile another possible target, Dirk Kuyt, was in in tears after the final whistle during Feyenoord's last match, which suggests his hankering for Champions League football might see him ply his trade elsewhere next season.
Kuyt is a player that Rafa has previously tried to sign but the Reds wouldn't meet the asking price. Don't rule him out yet.
You can also expect a new name to enter the race soon.

for god's sake, 'pool fans face another summer of being linked to every half decent striker going. Torres is one of the best young prospects around and whilst it pains me to say it, i don't see a side like liverpool getting him should he become available, all the top clubs in europe would be in for him.
