Just listening to Snow Patrol's new album - the song with Martha Wainwright is superb. Anyone any wisdom to impart on her solo stuff? Initially none of the tunes smack you in the head like Chocolate or Spitting Games but after a few listens I've really taken to it. Not sure if it's as good as Final Straw yet but it's up there. Make This Last Forever is very impressive too I must say.
Also Josh Ritter's album impressing me a lot. The lad sure knows how to write a tune - in particular Wolves and Better Man are smashing.
Also listening to a dude called Ray La Montagne - the type of easy listening I needed to soothe me after the pressures of the job I just quit!

I would recommend Two Gallants - What the toll tells as very much worth a listen.

I would recommend the first two Tindersticks albums from the nineties - just listening to them recently. Also Eno's Another Green World. Sonic Youth's Sister is also excellent as well. Husker Du - Candy Apple Gray. I have been listening to all of them recently. Go out and buy some stuff from Palace Music (ie Bonnie Prince Billy). You will like it. There's a guy called Tom Leach who I pulled out of my brothers cd collection recently as well. His eponymous debut album is smashing.

Liking Hard-Fi's album a lot. Thought it would be posturing, laddish rubbish like Kaiser Chiefs but it's really good.
Also, Snow Patrol Marlay Park tickets went on sale today.

Not a fan of Snow Patrol. To me they are second rate Sebadoh or Dinosaur Junior. Just to show that I dont hate all modern bands, I listened to Franz Ferdinand's first album on the server here at work and I have to say that 'Take Me Out' is a smashing tune, particularly the opening bars. Also a big fan of Keane's 'Somewhere Only We Know'. I presume Bandage put Whipping Boy up there. Thank you. I didnt include that in my ten out of ten albums because its was a nine imo, but I think I could call it a ten now. The guitar in it is incredible....

Been listening to Mic Christopher's Skylarkin album over the last day or two. IMO, its some good stuff, puts other singer-songwriters like David Gray and Mundy in their place.
