Birmingham A few decent players will surely be up for sale now. Wouldn't say no to Liverpool picking up Dunn, Pennant and Upson relatively cheaply. Dunn is injury prone I know but would be a decent addition to the squad I think, and a bit different to what we currently have which would give us more options. Pennant is a decent right winger which we are lacking at the moment. Upson can be used as back-up for the centre-halves. Haven't seen enough of Agger to pass judgement yet.
On a separate note, relegation might well be a good thing for Marcos Painter to get an extended run in the team and get a bit of experience. Haven't seen him but word on the grapevine is that he's decent.
West Brom Delighted for Robson that West Brom are gone down. He's a shit manager who got lucky last season. Absolutley stupid to sell Earnshaw. Wouldn't mind Gera at Liverpool.
Sunderland Bad news for Elliott. Needs a move to the Premiership. Likely to be one of the Premiership new boys that pick him up if indeed he is picked up. Sheffield Utd have an aging strikeforce afaik - maybe that would be a decent move. Daryl Murphy is clearly not good enough for Premiership. Forget about him.
Oh and fair play to Harry Redknapp I say.

Out of the three relegated teams I'd only really be interested in Gera, Upson or Pennant and I'd rank them in that order. Shocking state of affairs at Sunderland that I'd only possibly consider Arca worthy of a move elsewhere but he'd hardly be a brilliant signing for anyone.
Daryl Murphy is miles off the pace, Gary Breen is finished, Alex Bruce isn't good enough so from an Irish point of view it's really only Steven Elliot who might suffer. Personally I have huge doubts about whether Elliot is of Premiership standard: I think he might need a season in the Championship to see if he can start scoring goals there because if he's not as good as Kevin Kyle then there's no hope.

I wasnt going to reply to this considering that I dont think that there is a decent player in the three teams but I must draw particular offence to Lyonsee's last comment re Harry Redknapp. He has to be the sneakiest, shallowest, up-his-own-arse fcuker in football.

Have my doubts about Elliott too but not sure the Championship would do him any good. For me, needs to sink or swim in the Premiership next season.

i remember vividly the hype that surrounded david dunn initially. he was being tipped as the new gazza, seems to have gone to his head and he seems to be aloof with his play. as a pool fan i certainly wouldn't like to see us waste money on him, we already have a similar type of frustrating oft times genius in luis garcia. gera, upson and pennant will all move i think we can agree on that.
i found myself stuck watching some of the arsenal sunderland game the other day and le tallec came on as sub. forgot he existed and had a chuckle to myself at the lunacy of houllier in buying somebody for a club like liverpool and then a couple of years later can't make it onto the worst team in premiership history.

Le Tallec was supposed to be better than fake Ronaldo when he arrived. Had beaten him to Player of the Tournament in a youth tournie. Turns out he's muck. I mean Jon Stead and Kevin Kyle are ahead of him in the pecking order. Charlie Nicholas.
I think Dunn is class - far and away better than Garcia (who yes we all know gets goals). He's just been unlucky with injuries. Would gladly pick him up for 3 - 3.5m.

3-3.5m is alot of cash to waste on some guy who'll be at best a bench player in a position where we already have creative talent in gerrard, alonso, kewell and garcia. i'd prefer to spend the 3-3.5m on pennant, at least he plays in a position which we don't actually have a genuine first choice. i wonder what wages he'd command, maybe eamo has an insight ??

Don't rate Pennant or Dunn. The latter has a chronic hamstring problem related to his back so it'd be suicidal to pay £3m for him. Pennant has a terrible attitude and is very immature and inconsistent. Upson's about the best of the lot - always rated the guy. Good player who's solid and dependable.
Agree Elliott needs an EPL move - don't think he'd gain much by going back down to a lower level. Wouldn't fancy Sheff Utd though - they're Sunderland markII. A load of Championship standard players like Akinbiyi, veterans like Shipperly and a Championship standard manager in Warnock.
Not sure about Gera. Would like Celtic to take a look at their left back Robinson as I think he's an above average player but ideally I'd want them to sign a better left back than him. Nobody else springs to mind.
