How do you put images/pictures up?
Cant seem to do it. The insert image button doesn't help and the Proboards help guide doesn't help.

You need to save the image to some webspace: try imageshack or photobucket. Then just copy the url of where the image is saved (that imageshack or photobucket give you) and insert that URL between the image tacks that you get by clicking on the picture icon above.

Dude only administrators/moderators can see that - don't be giving away our secrets/privileges or we'll have to ask you to revert back to your previous moderatorless role!

A glitch we're working on at the moment. These are the things we need to iron out before Drico officially launches the site in Cafe En Seine when he gets back from OZ and NZ.

Is it not about time that the 'General Board' forum is split into other forums, due to the increasing popularity of the forums?
A lot of good threads quickly disappear into the grave of page 2 or 3 and are forgotten
Surely, Soccer and GAA deserve their own now, possibly even rugby and cricket.
and a forum for other miscellaneous threads such as the poetry, music lyrics, birds pictures, questions etc etc etc

Let me state my preference first. I prefer it the way it is because you pop onto the main forum and you have banter on a wide range of subjects. With minimum clicking you are accessing all the most recent topics. I would imagine that there are guys reading the cricket threads for example who might not venture into a cricket forum should one exist. I also like the mix of sport and non-sport because a board dedicated to GAA might be a touch bland. As it is we have our GAA thread to keep things central, but anyone is free to start a new thread if they feel a topic deserves a greater importance. Having said that I'm obviously prepared to change it around if more people are pro-change than against it. I'm not going to start a poll yet but I might leave this topic live afor about a week for everyone to voice an opinion and we might have a poll or something then to decide on it. Another option might be to increase the number of threads on the main page which I'll do later anyway to remove the "graveyard effect."

A Good short term solution. it was me who requested the change before. but since the forum has the 'new' topic facility surely having a number of different forums wouldnt make much difference? sure your the boss anyways

I think you are right Rock that if its split out people might not bother clicking around and will just read and contribute to one or two threads on the board that interest them most. That said there are probably some great threads, "1966..." included which may get lost with all the new threads being created. Maybe a soulution to this is to have maybe two or three boards as apposed to a dozen covering each individual sport/topic.

I've doubled the threads available per page to 40. This can go to a max of 50 if needs be.

If i only get a chance to log on once or twice a day i can see all the different threads on one page and click into whichever looks interesting. Also i tend to go into threads like cricket and tennis if they're being updated regularly just to see what the banter is, whereas if there were seperate forums i probably wouldn't bother. However I do accept the point that once a threads disappears from the first page it tends to be forgotten. Is there a way of keeping all the most popular threads on the first page, the same as all the most recently updated threads appear, would that be feasible?

I agree with timofte above, especially in regard to the seminal freekick.com thread of '1966 reasons.....' being pushed further and further back. just a few different forum boards should be grand

I have stickied this thread so it stays near the top. I don't think there's a way to keep popular threads at the top automatically but I'll look into it. Sometimes I think you stop looking at the top few threads though if you know they aren't updated as regularly - for example I sometimes don't notice a post on the fantasy forum thread on this board because I know it will be at the top anyway.

I'm happy to take all viewpoints on board but I definitely prefer it the way it is now. I think much of the appeal of the forum is the diversity of topics discussed - serious sporting and political debates to light-hearted scheidt like Home and Away. 1.966 reasons etc plus the shared knowledge on stuff like betting, broadband, electric razors. I think it would be too bland and restrictive having separate boards and it only takes a couple of clicks to find something on page 2 or 3. As others have said the fact that there's one uniform board also encourages you to read a thread you might not ordinarily read if it was in its own individual section. Keep it as ir is . No doubts.

No doubts. very valid points there bandage. but do you not think, that if someone was to click into the board and see that the first few topics are about sheidt, and they figured that this forum was supposed to be about sport they might just click out and never return? i know one should never quote sources that one cant back up, but i do remember seeing somewhere that the initial few seconds are the most important for a viewer of a site, for them deciding to stay or leave. so if they see, for example topics on home & away and other sheidt as opposed to the fantastic munster rugby threads or the 1966 reasons they might quickly click out, never to return and we're stuck with 36 members i'm sure a maximum of three or four forums would be sufficient. just trying to help.
