Can’t be bothered looking for the old thread so starting afresh and anew. Anybody got any more music – current or old to recommend? Coming up from Wexford this morning I was in need of a pick me up so I went to ‘w’ on my mp3 player and gave a blast of Waiting Room, We Are Scientists and Whipping Boy. Felt a bit of life coming back into after that before I then dovetailed to ‘f’, ‘g’, ‘h’ and ‘I’ for some Future Kings of Spain, a little Gorillaz, Hard Fi and Interpol. Then I circled back to ‘e’ for Elliot Smith and I felt worse than I did coming out of Brewster Park on Saturday night.

Future Kings of Spain, savage first album cant wait for the second one, later this year apparently. Flaming lips, Muse and Morrissey, my current heavy listening. Recommend highly Excellent news re FKOS. Literally spent about 4 hours one day in my previous employment trying to find out what the story is with them. That debut is from 2003 and I only got my hands on it around this time last year and I thought 'fook this is amazing' - then I couldn't find out anything about them. Website not updated etc etc. Googled the bollox out of them too but there was nothing of note since 2004. Have been trying to find some lyrics of theirs that I can't make out from listening to the album. Any ideas? Meaning to get Flamin' Lips and Morrissey but haven't got around to it yet. Not sure about Muse - never took to them.

Got Underworld 1992-2002 there recently and it's a cracking little album (2 discs and I've only listened to 1 yet). With the fine weather we've been having, I've been looking like a right little boy racer with the windows down and the choons blaring though. Seriously though, the opening beats of Born Slippy just make me go "yes, yes, yes, this rocks".

Was doing some gig research there, don’t know if any of these will be of interest:
Saturday 19th August – Snow Patrol (Marlay Park). Wednesday 4th October – Simple Kid (The Village). Gagged for his debut and wondered where he’d been since. Presume he’ll have a new album out around then. Monday 30th October – We Are Scientists (Olympia) Wednesday 1st November – Sufjan Stevens (Olympia). My favourite album of last year. If you don’t have it you’ll know his song ‘Chicago’ from the RTE sport ad with Billo rejoicing over ‘a kaleidoscope of colour, a cocophony of sound’. Cracking stuff – both album and ad. Friday 1st December – BellX1 (The Point).

I think that last one is an odd choice. I know they're getting bigger but will BellX1 really sell out the Point? I hate that place as a venue so I can't see myself attending that one. Might do Surfjan once I familiarise myself with his stuff.

Would you believe when I checked back in there today to see had anyone replied to my post I noticed that mistake but seeing as the site only gets one hit a year I didn't bother amending it. That said it was sloppy and bad speeling, grammar and punctuation riles me greatly. I also added an incorrect apostrophe for shits and giggles in my previous post.

Gig was originally up on ticket websites about a month ago then taken down, then sneakily put back up today.
Great band live, put on a savage live show

Got my ipod fixed there last week so am getting back into listening to music again (was broken for about 6 months there).
Think the new snow patrol album is pretty good and have been listening to it alot.
I took the plunge and bought the Sufjan Stevens album Illinoise and am very impressed. Bandage has been going on about it on this forum and I hear Tom Dunne rabbiting on about it alot too. Are any of Sufjans other albums any good?
Have been listening to the Stone Roses alot recently also. Hadn't listented to them in ages and bought a 'best of' album recenently and its quality stuff.
Am also listening to Rodrigo Y Gabriela since I saw them in Oxegen. I have the Live in Manchester and Dublin album and its really good.
One of the albums that I have bought in the last year that I have to listen to before i head out on a night out while drinking a few cans in the gaff is Forever Faithless the greatest hits of Faithless. Insomnia up full blast just to piss off the neighbours!

Picked up Big Star's #1 Record and Radio City (on the one CD) for 9.99. Quality. Massive influence on Teenage Fanclub who, in Sparky's Dream, have one of the songs of the 90's.
Ennio Morricone's Film Music 1966-1990 still astounds me even though my brother bought it over a year ago
Barafundle by Gorky's Zygotic Mynci is one of the best albums of the 90's. Again unearthing gems in it I missed on the first hundred listenings.
I am very wary of people liking Morrissey at the moment. It wreaks of listening to the media and believing what they want you to believe. I still cannot understand why he has become so popular since the release of 'You are the Quarry'. The album is nowhere near his best and his last album is frankly poor. I believe it is because he began to do more interviews and came into the public eye more.
I may have said this before but I read a review for his last album by some 'expert' reviewer. He said that before 'You are the Quarry' Morrissey had never done anything since The Smiths. Bullshit. I bet that reviewer never even heard any of his stuff in that period and only went on the fact that he hadn't been really seen beacuse of his lack of public exposure. If he had then there is no way he could miss Vauxhall and I which it could be argued is better than anything The Smiths ever done.
A new song hitting for the mantle of greatest song ever. Not so much new (its 40 years old) and I got the album over three years ago, but it's only dawning on me now - Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands by Dylan from Blonde on Blonde
I have actually only recently realised that the first letter in each word in Blonde On Blonde spells BOB. Coincidence I wonder?

Had a first listen to the self titled 'Clap your hands say yeah' album last night. Very impressed. Normally takes a few listens for an album to grow on me but I took an instant like to this one.
During my college years we went through a massive JJ72 phase in our house. think there first album was released in 2000. Lost the album when I moved to Dublin but I rebought it a few weeks back. An absolute cracker.

That was me, cracking music imo. Pretty hard core I admit but brilliant club music and my favourite for getting ready for a night out with a few cans. Not good music for shops I guess. I thought they kept Enya and the likes for that. Must be a nightmare working in one of those shops where they play the same shite music all day long...you should consider youself lucky it was Faithless and not Clanad you were subjected to. DT PS. I only smoke weed when I need to, And I need to get some rest, I confess, I burnt a hole in the mattress, Yes, yes, it was me, I plead guilty, And on the count of three I pull back the duvet, Make my way to the refrigerator, One dry potato inside, no lie Not even bread, jam, When the light above my head went bam! I can't sleep, something's all over me, Greasy, insomnia please release me, And let me dream about making mad love on the heath, Tearing off tights with my teeth. But there's no relief, I'm wide awake in my kitchen, It's dark and I'm lonely, Oh, if I could only get some sleep, Creaky noises make my skin creep, I need to get some sleep, I can't get no sleep....

Hey does anyone know anything about allofmp3.com? Was looking at it and you can download albums for dirt cheap and it seems to have most current and popular stuff.
Its a Russian website by all accounts. Is it legal? Couldn't be bothered setting up one of those fileshare programs to download music (fooked up a PC on me before) and don't mind paying the little amount they quote if it is any good.
Has anyone used it? Would you trust them with you credit card details? (as an aside I heard about 3v.ie where you can get disposable credit card numbers, its like topping up you mobile phone apparently, anyone any experience of this? - might be worth setting up to use with this download website?)
Finally anyone got any suggestions for music to download if I do decide to use this site? Thinking of buying Muse's new album. Any good? Am liking Sufjan Stevens album Illinois, any others of his worth getting?
Cheers,
DT

allofmp3.com is an interesting case. Loads of articles about it online and nothing is terribly clear. It is quasi-legal and authorities the world over (outside Russia) are trying to get it shut down but they've had no success.
You are safe downloading from it. Until it is made illegal in Ireland then you're doing nothing wrong legally. All the music industry's efforts are in making the site itself illegal because they can't go after anyone who downloads music from there in good faith. So there's no comeback against you.
I've never downloaded from it personally but I know people (online) who have. I've read lots about the site in the past and I've never encountered someone who had any security issues so it seems as safe as any other website.
Those 3V vouchers are for visa cards and they're run by Permanent TSB. They work exactly as described so no issues with them.
