Got a bit of abuse there yesterday for wearing a ring. Granted the girls slagging me off are bitches and were probably just trying to damage my self-esteem but I jolly well love my claddagh ring. There's nothing wrong with a bloke wearing a ring is there?

There's nothing wrong with a bloke wearing a ring is there? Not at all Lyonsee, i used to wear one myself a couple of years ago. I do have a problem with over-sized sovereign rings though, purely for knackers they are; however i assume yours is nothing like those.

No it's a discreet claddagh ring, on the middle finger of my right hand. Looks like the one on the following page: www.galway1.ie/faq/ringsaga.htmBeen thinking of getting some sort of a celtic ring for the thumb on my left hand. Still undecided but I think they're kinda cool.

I think you could get away wearing a ring like the one in the picture. But as already mentioned sovereign rings are a no go area

I like the new supportive community that is thefreekick.com, as evidenced here.
To contribute, this topic is quite relevant to my current situation.
I am currently undergoing a job transrelocationhiring episode in my life, and was given some advice by my agent to maybe discard the ring/s for the interviews- to explain I have wore quite plain silver items, discreet yet tasteful, some groove markings- nothing extraordinary I thought. Personally I was taken aback by this suggestion, as they have been part of me for a while, and to date I have developed a complex about wearing rings- whilst on the other hand if it was a bird nothing would be said- reverse sexual discrimmination is alive and well! Soon women will overrun the male run planet which is going quite well so far in my opinion.
This ring issue could be the short end of the wedge.

Apparently it's seen as unprofessional in some quarters for men to have any form of jewellrey about their person. Blatant sexism imo.
