If it happens, and it could, they will be the most unbearable nation ever. It will be a disaster.
Can you imagine the smugness, the amount of airtime they will get, BBC, ITV & Sky will be unwatchable.
The fucking tabloids, the fucking fans, the fucking amount of TV programmes they will churn out, the ads with their fucking faces plastered on em. David Beckham being feted as a national hero. All getting knighthoods, A Question of Sport special....
Engerland being chanted for another 40 years
Hansen, Wright, Redknapp, Linekear, McCoist, Gabby Logan, Des Lynam, Shearer; all the other fucking pundits................
I dont know if i will be able to stick it............
What will you do?

I'd certainly cancel Sky Sports - no question. I never watch MOTD or Football Focus but I certainly wouldn't start watching them anyway.

It would have been bad if Leinster had won it tho........ At least, it shuts Munster up about beating the all-blacks. It always felt wrong, imo, going on about it so long. That said 'Alone It Stands' is a great play. Prob cancel Sky Sports myself too

It would have been bad if Leinster had won it tho........ Probably, yes, was at the Llanelli game the week after Toulouse and was getting well annoyed with all the arrogant "nouveaux bleus" in their brand-new berets, berating anyone who hadn't been there. That said 'Alone It Stands' is a great play. And "Alone it stands no more" was the best quote I saw after the game. Prob cancel Sky Sports myself too Antarctica for me. (Though I'd said "leave the country" before the Munster win too).

Engerland being chanted for another 40 years quote] I'd probably just be very more selective in my viewing. After the Crouch hat-trick at the weekend it was as if they decided they'd already won it! Re the Eng-er-land thing - I know someone mentioned it in the 1,966 reasons but I disagreed with it at the time. It came from New Order's WC Italia '90 song 'World In Motion', the best football song I've ever heard. Was listening to it yesterday to get into a bit of WC spirit: 'We're shouting for England, Eng-er-land Playing a song We're shouting for England, Eng-er-land Arrivederci it's one on one' And John Barnes' rap too - superb stuff.

Far, far better - though I am a New Order fan. I'm looking at things objectively despite the fact it's an England song. Are you?

I'd be delighted for them. I can't understand people who pledge themselves to English clubs until their dying yet maintain a vitriolic hatred for the English national team. I honestly don't think it would be as bad as listening to all these Munster fans. Anyway we need to look at ourselves, Christ we still go on about beating them in Euro 88.

Don't know what I would do. Probably never watch another football match again out of sheer disgust with the quality of the game.
For me 'Put em under pressure' is the greatest World Cup song
Honourable mention for New Order and Baddiel and Skinner's Three Lions (not WC I know).
The only problem with them is that they are songs about England, which is a pretty big problem.

Lot of Munster fans winding you up? Not particularly, don't come from a rugby background or anything so I don't have anyone winding me up. It's just that the Heiniken Cup has become the biggest sporting event of all time in the eyes of some. I know there are some Munster fans with a genuine interest and will follow through thick and thin and I'm happy for thise guys, but Jesus Christ - Bandwagon City.

"biggest sporting event of all time": I doubt it, just the pinnacle of what the Munster rugby team can win, if anyone claimed that then they are Muppets. "Bandwagon city": does generally happen with successful and/or popular teams, guilty of it myself, (only started really supporting them when I took up rugby (at a late age) and when I met the Claw and Gaillimh on a train journey back from Dublin after an interprovincial match). Anyway stop hijacking the thread!!! This is about Engerland possibly winning the WC and its ramifications for forum members

One more thing - all these women going around in Munster jersies goin mad celebrating - it's not right. Women never have and never will "get" what sport means. Anyway forget Munster.
Anyway back to the topic, I'm all for England, I've even ordered jerseies for the DCASS league similar to England jersies, although I haven't told my colleagues that that is why we're playing in white.

Birds should be banned from big sporting events [may do a thread on this]

Excellent idea. Remember a guy sitting in front of me at the Ireland-France game last year at Landsdowne, he was whispering in her ear all night. I remember thinking Jesus man - where's your f**kin balls? Wouldn't mind if she was hot but I wouldn't have got up on her to hang wallpaper.

If England win the WC06 I'll lament the role that Irish people played in the success by shamefully supporting English teams, subscribing to Sky Sports and buying replica shirts.
