If you are not already aware- i can't say im the biggest fan of Tresco. Never was to be honest, i think he's an average player that doesn't deserve his place on the English side, not once is he left out, which does baffle me...as he doesn't play unbelievably well. I will swallow my words and say that he might of had a good season last year, but I never once went against my words to say he was a top class cricketer. He has his good days, i'll give him that- but on more occasions he has very bad days, getting ducks and the likes. I know this is going to cause a lot of controversy , but i feel it's something a lot of people haven't though about and have taken for granted his place on the English side, never thinking anything about it- he'd be nothing compared to the KP or Freddie, which in my eyes are top class cricketers. Feel free to scrutinise.... Presh

Hello there Presh - I am actually quite a big fan of Tresco and disagree with most of what you have said. He adds a lot of stability to the English and Welsh top order and averages 45 in test matches which is more than acceptable. A few years ago there was the suggestion that he barely held his own against top bowling attacks and only cemented his place with big scores against the Zimbabwes and Bangladeshes of the game. But he's firmly put that doubt to rest in the last 3-4 years and has scored big runs in important series including 190 in Pakistan in November, a couple of hundreds against South Africa home and away, averaged early 40s in the Ashes last summer and returned against Sri Lanka the other week with another hundred. He's also rated 11th best batsman in the World in the official test rankings and was highest English and Welsh batsman for the past few years until KP stormed into the top ten on Monday after his heroics in Edgbaston. Tresco - great player for me Presh.
Incidentally an anagram of Trescothick is Cricket Shot - who would have thought that.

Bandage has hit the nail on the head, i think that tres had a poor winter , but i'm putting that down to the fact there was something going on at home, he's a class act, and deservingly considered in the top 15 batsmen at the moment. he averages 45 in test match cricket, enough said.

"Cricket shot"?? do you accountants have anything better to do with your time?? KP is newest to the side, where as Tresco has been there for years-Tresco has built his foundations in the English side and in English cricket, precisely why he is loved by so many...and hated by few
