No contest - one started slowly, then got better and was truly excellent for a while. It's disappointed in the last couple of years though.
The other just gets better and better.

There's really only one answer to this for me considering I'd never consider watching one of them

I dont see a 'Best Home and Away' quotes thread! Because there isn't fucking any (as of now, no doubt someone will trawl the net trying to find any fucking 'Away in a Home' cracking quotes), unless you count:
Alf: G'day Ailsa: G'day Alf, I'm dead Alf: Strewth, Ails, wot happened? Better tell Don! Alf: Don Don: Alf Alf: Ails is back! Don: Bloody Sheilas!
Really top notch stuff there!!!

No luck on the cracking Home & Away quotes search lads? ye're gone very quiet Do you honestly think I'd bother trawling the web like you lads have been doing for The Simpsons thread? H&A stands up under any scrutiny and doesn't need me or anybody else to compile quotes to confirm this. 20 years of sheer quality viewing.

It was when the stalker had abducted Sally and typified the spirit of Summer Bay and one Alf Stewart: Flynn: What am I going to do Alf? I can't live without her. Alf (in that red overall outfit they wear during storms, abductions and searches): I'll tell you something Flynn. To many people Sally Fletcher is the local teacher, to others she's a neighbour and a friend but to me she'll always be the little girl from the caravan park. Flynn, Sally Fletcher is Summer Bay and I'm not going to stop until I find her. Cue Alf storming out of the house. Legend. Pure and simple.

A vote between Home & Away and Neighbours might be a better contest considering they are similar type shows. Home & Away against the Simpsons, it has to be Homer and Bart for me. Against Neghbours I would have to think a little harder.

A run away victory for common sense. And a two fingers to the moronic 'Away in a Home'. Sheer class always shines through, The Simpsons-pure class.
Plus i dont think 'Away in a Hole' has ever gotten on to the cover of Time Magazine!
I hope someday RTE decide to cut it and give us back some decent 6:30 TV programming, perhaps another Simpsons or a rerun of the Angelus - 30 times!
As for Neighbours V. Away in a Hovel. I would have to spoil my vote.
BTW: such bitterness by the 'Away in a Hospital' crew, -3 karma!!! such bitterness, such bitterness...... probably comes from Don Fisher
