Agree 100%. Nearly fell about the place laughing when I heard he was going for £8.5m. What next? Jonathan Greening £12m? Jon Stead £7m? Absolutely Charlie Nicholas.

it's not just limited to strikers, Rio Ferdinand £29m for instance. If John Terry was up for sale i could see someone like Newcastle paying £60m and thinking they had a bargain

To be fair to Johnson he did have 21 goals in a season where his team got relegated. Maybe it was a flash in the pan but its still a good return when you take into account the team he was playing with

Maybe it was a flash in the pan but its still a good return when you take into account the team he was playing with Half of those were penalties and he's hardly set the world alight before or after. £8.5m for a guy who's yet to really figure at all for his national side is at least about £5m too much although that's what the likes of Bent would go for now. Even Ashton who I think is a smashing player had a very inflated price.

The price tag of €8.5 is not too shocking. Its a trend in the English game where English players always have inflated prices
